Donald Weir becomes CEO of ELG Haniel GmbH

As of January 1, 2021, Donald Weir will join ELG Haniel GmbH as Chief Executive Officer (CEO), succeeding Detlef Drafz.

This will allow us to further accelerate the transformation of ELG”, says Thomas Schmidt, CEO of Franz Haniel & Cie GmbH.

Donald graduated from Cambridge and studied electrical and control engineering at Imperial College, London & Oxford. He has undertaken leadership roles in a number of companies (Siemens, E.ON,  thyssenkrupp) with a focus on transforming businesses consisting of networks of local operations to deliver growth and increase profitability. In his role at thyssenkrupp, Donald led the design & global deployment of digital solutions for customers and increased productivity in an industrial service business.
