United Kingdom

Even though the Government recognises the Metal Recycling sector as a ‘critical industry’ and our Teams as ‘Critical Workers’, on Friday we scaled down all our UK Stainless operations.  Taking the extremely difficult decision to furlough many of our great Team through the Government Coronavirus Employment Retention Scheme, our reduced operations remain open while safe to do so.  While supporting the waste supply chain throughout this crisis, we continue to follow advice of the Government.

During this period, extra measures are in place and in line with official advice.  We also ask the following:

  • That you inform us in advance of any deliveries.
  • You email a copy of your delivery note (scan or photograph, ideally in pdf or jpeg format).
  • Our weighbridge reception windows are located outside and now have limited openings to protect our staff.  Please do not touch any surfaces.
  • Your driver must remain in the vehicle unless instructed otherwise.
  • ‘Social Distancing’ of 2m is observed at all times.
  • Note turn-around times may be impacted.
  • Anyone using our ‘Contractor Toilet’ facilities must observe the personal hygiene advice in line with Government advice.
  • Do not enter any of our offices or building unless instructed to do so.
  • Anyone failing to comply with these instructions and/or our Health & Safety Policies will be asked to leave site immediately.
  • Anyone showing signs of Coronavirus must not enter any of our operations and self-isolate, again in line with Government advice.

Our dOps – Digital Operations System, is a paperless system used by or Metal Recycling Operates, this provides additional protection to our employees.

Closely monitoring the situation, our Management and Crisis Management Team continue to appropriately adapt as necessary.

We appreciate your support and understanding throughout this difficult time.  Everyone within ELG sincerely hopes our customers supplying front line services, supply chain and employees stay safe and well.

Take care.
